Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum

Welcome! We are a community museum and archives facility to maintain, display, preserve and protect historically significant artifacts and archival materials from the Tofino-Clayoquot area.

Who Are We

The region encompassing Clayoquot Sound has been the site of numerous important events over the past 15,000 years. The Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum developed by the Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Society in the lower level of the Legion is a permanent record of these events beginning with the retreat of the last glaciers and extending to the present day. We are grateful to operate in the hahoulthee of the Tla-o-qui-aht ha'wiih.

The Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Society is dedicated to the exploration, preservation and interpretation of the rich and diverse heritage of the west coast. Our purpose and mandate is to establish and operate a museum and archives facility and activities ancillary to that. As per the goals of the RDS, we believe a museum will increase awareness of Tofino’s eclectic nature and provides a visitor amenity which promotes Tofino’s cultural experience year round.

Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Society is a non profit society and a registered charity recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency. We operate with a board of director which includes a president, vice president, and a treasurer/secretary.
